About

    Velo-city.org

Probably the most comprehensive survey of urban cycling on the 'Net.

Velo-city.org's mission is to educate people on the benefits of utility cycling. With increasingly crowded cities, congested streets, traffic jams and an overweight population as well as the larger issues of climate change, peak oil, energy descent and the search for alternatives, it is crucial to understand the benefits of cycling as a form of sustainable mobility.

This independent, non-commerical website aims to provide an overview of various types of bicycles, human-powered vehicles, bike trailers and accessories relevant to utility (non-race) cycling as well as highlighting the infrastructure needed -and increasingly available- for city cycling. In addition, bike-friendly public and private initiatives are illustrated that support, encourage and promote cycling and intermodality.

Utility cycling can help you to save time and money as well as help you to get in shape and stay fit, all while reducing your carbon footprint and decreasing your dependence on fossil fuels. All you have to do is get on a bike and ride. Velo-city.org strives to make getting up to speed on urban cycling easy and fun!

Please let us know if there is something that you would like to see featured on our site, and we will do our best to make it happen.
